Mannion students will take the ELA and Math SBAC on April 17, 18, and 19. 8th graders also take the Nevada Science CRT, and will do so on April 25. Most students will take these tests in their first period class. See the Mannion SBAC and Science CRT schedule for more information.
Due to the testing security measures from the Nevada Department of Education, students are not allowed to have access to cellphones, AirPods (or other wireless headphones), or smart watches while testing. Students are encouraged to leave these items in their locker, and students who bring any of these items to a testing classroom will need to turn the device off and turn it in to their teacher during testing. Students should bring a fully-charged Chromebook, wired headphones, and a book to the testing classroom each day.
Any student who is absent on any of the days of testing will be scheduled for makeup testing.
The SBAC and Science CRT assessments are used to record each student’s year-over-year growth, and the overall student performance factors into Mannion’s school rating on the annual Nevada School Performance Framework. To promote the importance of these assessments, Mannion has pledged to provide an incentive to students who earn a Level 4: Advanced achievement level or show 100 points growth in ELA or 75 points growth in math. Additional information can be found in this video and flyer.
Additionally, each classroom will conduct a raffle on each day of testing to encourage students to come to school prepared for the SBAC (fully charged Chromebook, no access to cell phone, no smart watches, bringing wired headphones, working productively throughout the test, etc.).
For students who have been identified for taking this assessment, testing is occurring throughout the month of April. Information on this has been communicated by the teacher of any student who will take the NAA.
