Parents/Guardians of a Mannion 8th grade student,
I am excited to let you know that the details of the 8th grade trip to Disneyland have just been finalized!
The day of the trip is Thursday, May 15, 2024. It is a one day trip, down and back within 24 hours. This happens on a school day and participating students will be excused from school on the day of the trip plus the following day, Friday, May16th, due to the late night return from Disneyland.
The buses depart from Mannion Middle School at 3 am on Thursday morning to allow students to be at the Disneyland gates when they open at 8 am. This is a park hopper ticket meaning students will have all day in both parks, Disneyland and California Adventure. Plus this year we have added the “Lightning Lane” option (Fast Pass) on each ticket. At the end of the spectacular day, students and chaperones will board the bus at 9:30 pm for the return trip home, estimating a 2:30 am return to the Mannion parking lot for parent pick-up.
The cost of the trip per student is $285. A $100 deposit is required no later than Monday, December 2, 2024 to reserve a seat for your student. You are welcome to make that deposit (or payment in full) starting now. The first deposit must be in cash or check with the school banker at Mannion, and then the subsequent payments can be made online with a credit card. Please be aware that there is a new online banking app that will require you to set up an account.
Included in the price of the trip is a Mannion 8th grade Disney trip T-Shirt that students are required to wear at all times while in the park.
If you place a deposit and your student becomes ineligible, a full refund is available on or before March 10, 2025. After that date, no refunds will be given. If your student is not able to go past that cut off date, and the trip has been paid in full, Mannion will give the Disney ticket to the student to be used at a later date.
All Mannion 8th grade students who meet the eligibility requirements are invited to go.
Eligibility Requirements:
-
- Academics: Passing grades only on all quarter and semester report cards (No F’s)
- Citizenship: O, S, or N marks for citizenship (No U’s)
- Behavior: No out of school suspensions, 2 or less In-House suspensions, 6 or less MBI’s
- Attendance: 13 or less absences by end of quarter 3 (March 14, 2025)
- Tardy marks: 7 or less total tardy marks by the end of quarter 3 (March 14, 2025)
There are 2 Mannion administrators and 7 Mannion teachers going on the trip as chaperones. Students will need to follow all check-in requirements as well as have access to the Remind app via a cell phone. A review of student behavior expectations while on the trip will be presented in a parent meeting closer to the date of the event.
