Greetings,
Parents of students who plan to participate in volleyball at Mannion Middle School in the 2024-2025 school year must complete the online forms required for participating in middle school athletics. Please see the information below regarding this process as well as information about tryouts and athletic eligibility for the upcoming spring volleyball season.
Registration for Student-Athletes
Students who plan to try out for soccer or volleyball in the 2024-2025 school year must be registered online by a parent through aktivate.com. Please see the Aktivate Student-Athlete Registration Instructions guide for more information. Detailed instructions for using Aktivate are provided at Parent/Guardian Step-by-Step Guide to Aktivate or Guía paso a paso para padres o tutores para registrar un atleta en Aktivate.
A sports physical is required for all students before participating in tryouts. The CCSD Physical Form can be downloaded here or within Aktivate. Several health centers and hospitals in the Las Vegas and Henderson areas offer discounted sports physicals, some of which are available on a walk-in basis.
Volleyball
Volleyball intramurals will be offered for boys and girls beginning January 21, 2025, from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM. Intramurals are open for all students that would like to participate. Intramurals are only for currently-enrolled Mannion students. Homeschool or charter school students who wish to participate in intramurals must be approved by the principal and Region 3 prior to participation.
Volleyball tryouts for boys and girls will occur during the last week of February. The exact dates will be determined based on the availability of the gym. Please see the 2025 Volleyball Tryout & Intramural Schedule for more information. Tryouts are a closed event so coaches can focus on evaluating the players trying out. Parents and other students will not be allowed in the gym while tryouts occur. Since volleyball tryouts will occur the same week as soccer tryouts, students will only be allowed to try out for one sport.
Tryouts and intramurals will take place in the gym at Mannion Middle School. The late bus will be available only for students who receive CCSD transportation.
All student athletes are reminded that grades, citizenship, school behavior, sportsmanship, attitude, and skills are variables that will be reviewed by coaches and administration prior to the selection of the teams.
Athletic Eligibility Information
Information regarding eligibility requirements is listed on the CCSD Middle School Athletic Eligibility document. All student-athletes must meet the academic eligibility requirements, and students participating in flag football, basketball, or soccer must also meet the residency and guardianship requirements.
Students in their first year of attendance at Mannion on a Change of School Assignment (COSA) are eligible to participate in volleyball in the 2024-2025 school year. Students in their first year of attendance at Mannion on a COSA are not eligible to participate in soccer.
Mannion’s student-athletes are expected to demonstrate a positive representation of our school. Student-athletes and parents are asked to review Mannion’s expectations for student-athletes.
