Greetings,
Parents of students who plan to participate in athletics at Mannion Middle School in the 2024-2025 school year need to complete the online forms required for participating in middle school athletics. Please see the information below regarding this process as well as information about intramurals, tryouts, and athletic eligibility for our fall sports, flag football, and cross country.
Registration for Student-Athletes
Students who plan to try out for flag football, cross country, basketball, soccer, or volleyball in the 2024-2025 school year must be registered online by a parent through aktivate.com (this site used to be known as Register My Athlete). Please see the Aktivate Student-Athlete Registration Instructions guide for more information. Detailed instructions for using Aktivate are provided at Parent/Guardian Step-by-Step Guide to Aktivate or Guía paso a paso para padres o tutores para registrar un atleta en Aktivate.
Parents who completed an Aktivate registration prior to July 1, 2024, will need to log back in to complete the newly added Middle School Concussion Consent and Parent Signature form.
A sports physical is required for all students before participating in tryouts. The CCSD Physical Form can be downloaded here or within Aktivate. Several health centers and hospitals in the Las Vegas and Henderson areas offer discounted sports physicals, some of which are available on a walk-in basis.
Flag Football
Flag football tryouts for boys and girls begin on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Any students who would like to participate in tryouts must complete their registrations in Aktivate by Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Flag football intramurals will be offered on August 14-16, 2024, from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM for students who have completed their Aktivate registrations by August 9, 2024. Please note that the originally-posted dates of intramurals have changed slightly.
Tryouts and intramurals will take place on the field at Mannion Middle School. Students should bring water, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear. Please see the 2024 Flag Football Tryout & Intramural Schedule for more information.
Cheer
Cheer tryouts have been scheduled for August 26-30, 2024. Aktivate is NOT required for cheer tryouts, but it is required once the student is selected for the squad.
Cross Country
Mannion is pleased to participate in CCSD’s implementation of cross country as a middle school sport. The season will consist of 3 contests and a CCSD Championship, with race distances between 1.5 and 2.0 miles long. Courses will be a mix of grass, dirt paths, and sidewalks. Please see the 2024 Mannion Cross Country Schedule for more information.
Cross country tryouts have been scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Any students who would like to participate in tryouts must complete their registrations in Aktivate by Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Cross country intramurals will be offered on August 27-29, 2024, from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM for students who have completed their Aktivate registrations by August 23, 2024.
Tryouts and intramurals will take place on the field at Mannion Middle School. Students should bring water, sunscreen, running shoes, and school-appropriate running attire. Please see the 2024 Cross Country Tryout & Intramural Schedule for more information.
Students who are selected for the flag football teams will not be allowed to participate in cross country. Students participating in cross country will need to complete a registration in Aktivate and meet academic eligibility requirements, but the residency and guardianship rules in the CCSD Middle School Athletics Eligibility guide do not apply to cross country. Students in their first year of attendance at Mannion on a Change of School Assignment (COSA) are eligible to participate in cross country and volleyball in the 2024-2025 school year.
Athletic Eligibility Information
Information regarding eligibility requirements is listed on the CCSD Middle School Athletic Eligibility document. All student-athletes must meet the academic eligibility requirements, and students participating in flag football, basketball, or soccer must also meet the residency and guardianship requirements.
Mannion’s student-athletes are expected to demonstrate a positive representation of our school. Student-athletes and parents are asked to review Mannion’s expectations for student-athletes.
