Greetings,
We want to remind parents that in the City of Henderson helmets are required for anyone under the age of 18 who is riding a bike, e-bike, or e-scooter. It is our expectation that our students follow the law; therefore, all students are required to wear a helmet when operating a bike, e-bike, or e-scooter while on campus. Please take a few minutes to review, with your student, this information provided by the City of Henderson.
In coordination with CCSD’s Safe Travels Day and the City’s “Ride Smart. Stay Safe.” campaign, the City of Henderson will host a helmet giveaway at our school on Thursday, March 12, at dismissal at 2:15 p.m. City of Henderson staff and AmeriCorps members will be stationed at the bike rack to distribute free bicycle safety equipment to students who rode to school that day. The first 30 students will receive a free helmet and bike lights, along with guidance on proper helmet fitting and information on safely traveling to and from school. This bike and scooter safety giveaway is funded through a grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety and aligns with the City’s recently adopted E‑Bike/E‑Scooter/E‑Motorcycle ordinance.
Again, student safety is a priority at Mannion Middle School and the expectation is that any student who rides a bike, e-bike, or e-scooter on campus will be wearing a helmet. Your assistance communicating and enforcing this expectation with your student is greatly appreciated.
Be safe, Mustangs!
Todd Petersen, Principal
