Hello Mannion Family,
We wanted to reach out and ensure that everyone has the current information about our remaining intramurals/tryouts for our fall sports (flag football, cross country, and cheer) as well as provide an update on where to find information for our school clubs and activities that will take place during the 2025-2026 school year.
Flag Football
Tryouts for boys and girls flag football begin on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Any students who would like to participate in tryouts must have a completed status within their registrations in Aktivate by Sunday, August 14, 2025. Tryouts will take place on the field at Mannion Middle School. Students should bring water, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear.
Please see the 2025 Flag Football Tryout & Intramural Schedule for more information.
Cross Country
Cross country tryouts begin on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Any students who would like to participate in tryouts must complete their registrations in Aktivate by Thursday, August 21, 2025. Students who are selected for the flag football teams will not be allowed to participate in cross country. Students participating in cross country will need to complete a registration in Aktivate and meet academic eligibility requirements, but the residency and guardianship rules in the CCSD Middle School Athletics Eligibility guide do not apply to cross country. Cross country intramurals will be offered for boys and girls on August 19, 20, and 21, 2025, from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM only for students who have completed their Aktivate registrations by August 18, 2025.
Tryouts and intramurals will take place on the field at Mannion Middle School. Students should bring water, sunscreen, running shoes, and school-appropriate running attire. For the 2025-2026 school year, the Cross Country team size will be limited to approximately 40 total students, and tryouts results will be based on the ability to run for a set period of time without walking. Please see the 2025 Cross Country Tryout & Intramural Schedule for more information.
The cross country season will consist of 3 contests and a CCSD Championship, with race distances between 1.5 and 2.0 miles long. Courses will be a mix of grass, dirt paths, and sidewalks. Please see the 2025 Mannion Cross Country Schedule for more information.
Cheerleading
Cheer tryouts are scheduled to run from September 2nd through the 5th. September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th is the clinic where the students will learn the material for tryouts (Mandatory attendance to be able to try out for the team). Tryouts will be held on September 5th. Aktivate is NOT required for cheer tryouts, but it is required once the student is selected for the squad.
Clubs and School Activities
Mannion Middle School has a variety of after school clubs and organizations for students to participate in. Each club activity is supervised by a staff member. Club information can be found on our website, https://mannionmiddleschool.com/clubs-and-activities/. Club meeting dates and information is being updated for the 2025-2026 school year, please monitor our club calendar for the most current information on meeting dates, times, and locations. Students will also be updated with information on clubs through the daily morning announcements.
Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball
Students who plan to try out for basketball, soccer, or volleyball later this school year must be registered online by a parent through aktivate.com. Please see the Aktivate Student-Athlete Registration Instructions guide for more information. Detailed instructions for using Aktivate are provided at Parent/Guardian Step-by-Step Guide to Aktivate or Guía paso a paso para padres o tutores para registrar un atleta en Aktivate.
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, a $10 registration fee has been added to the Aktivate registration process. During the 2024-2025 school year, Mannion paid over $7,000 toward the costs of transportation and officials for sporting events. The $10 fee will be used to help cover the costs of Mannion’s athletic programs.
A sports physical is required for all students before participating in tryouts. The CCSD Physical Form can be downloaded here or within Aktivate. Several health centers and hospitals in the Las Vegas and Henderson areas offer discounted sports physicals, some of which are available on a walk-in basis. Students without a completed sports physical will not be allowed to participate in tryouts.
Further information will be sent out regarding intramurals and tryout dates for the winter and spring sports.
Athletic Eligibility Information
Information regarding eligibility requirements is listed on the CCSD Middle School Athletic Eligibility document. All student-athletes must meet the academic eligibility requirements, and students participating in flag football, basketball, or soccer must also meet the residency and guardianship requirements. Mannion’s student-athletes are expected to demonstrate a positive representation of our school. Student-athletes and parents are asked to review Mannion’s expectations for student-athletes.
