Greetings,
The Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024, will be viewable in the Clark County area from approximately 10:12 AM to 12:30 PM. While it will only be a partial eclipse, we realize that this is a unique opportunity for our students, who have studied astronomy in science classes, to see and participate. However, with anything having to do with science, safety precautions must be taken.
On April 8, Mannion students will have the option of going outside to view the eclipse. This opportunity will be provided to students during the last ten minutes of lunch. Students who wish to go outside to view the eclipse will be provided a pair of “eclipse glasses.” These glasses were purchased by the school and will be handed to students as they go outside to view the eclipse.
Passing periods (3rd period to 4th period and 4th period to 5th period) will still need to take place during the eclipse. Science teachers will warn students about the dangers of staring into the eclipse, and parents are encouraged to also speak to their students about the dangers of staring into the sun.
If you have any questions about the eclipse, please click here or contact NASA. If you have questions about Mannion Middle School, please contact me.
Go Mustangs!
