The Social worker in Schools grant (SB 515) was funded by the Nevada State legislature to provide a Safe School Professional on CCSD campuses. These professionals provide direct counseling and support services to students and families as well as providing links to community agency resources. In addition to these direct student services, the safe school professional oversees the Mannion Middle School Community Center food pantry, classroom/school-based activities, and the Be Kind Club. These, as well as other services are available to assist Mannion students and their families.
Food Pantry
The Mannion Community Center food pantry is always accepting donations to provide assistance to students and families in need. A specific list of “need items” can be requested from the school’s social worker, Paige Johnson, but a list of common items that are collected for the food pantry is available below.
Nevada School-Based Health Centers
Nevada Health Centers offers primary care and preventative health services AT NO COST to children of CCSD, including treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, management of chronic illnesses, sports physicals, wellness examinations, health education, and immunization.
Be Kind Club
The Mannion Community Center “Be Kind Club” provides diverse opportunities for students to work together to ensure maintains a positive and supportive school culture.
