Dear Mannion Middle School Community,
The safety of our students is our top priority at Mannion Middle School. As always, we want to keep you informed of important issues happening within our school community.
It has come to our attention that students have been wearing and carrying attire on campus that has affected the learning environment of our school. We would like to take this opportunity to remind students and families of Clark County School District Regulation 5131. This regulation pertains to dress, appearance and conduct at CCSD schools.
CCSD Regulation 5131 section II, Educational Environment Standards, states:
“Student’s dress, personal appearance and conduct are required to be of such character as not to disrupt or detract from the educational environment of the school. Any style which tends to diminish instructional effectiveness or discipline control by teachers is not acceptable.”
Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken for students found to not be in compliance with this regulation and all CCSD regulations. Students will not be permitted to wear or carry flags on school campus. This includes flags worn as capes as well as capes that are normally part of a costume. The American flag will always be permitted on campus, but we want to remind students of the “United States Flag Code” as outlined by the American Legion to ensure our nation’s flag is always treated with the dignity and respect it deserves.
Together we can continue to make Mannion Middle School a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
