Welcome Back & Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a happy and healthy winter break. Here are a couple of important reminders for the start of the second semester:
COVID-19 Update:
Please continue to utilize the Parent and Guardian Guidance Checking Your Student Before Leaving Home to check for symptoms/conditions prior to sending the student to school. If a student shows any symptoms/conditions, keep the student at home and contact your medical provider for guidance.
If the student is absent due to symptoms (or any reason), please remind the student to follow along with his or her class on Canvas. Encourage the student to reach out to individual teachers for explanation of missed instruction.
In the event a student or family member tests positive or is required to quarantine, please contact the CCSD COVID-19 Hotline at 702-799-4322. Once we receive notification through this system, we can update attendance appropriately and notify teachers of the required absence.
Masks will continue to be required by all students, staff, and guests on campus. Masks must be worn indoors at all times, and masks must be worn both over the nose and mouth.
Basketball Spectator Guidelines:
To ensure a positive experience for all spectators:
- Middle school students are required to have an adult with them to enter the game.
- Masks are required to be worn over the nose and mouth by all spectators. Failure to properly wear your mask jeopardizes our ability to have spectators at the game. If you are unwilling and unable to wear your mask, we ask that you do not purchase a ticket to the game.
- Food & drinks are not permitted inside the gym. Players are permitted to have water.
- Please be respectful and appreciative of the referees. Without them, this game would be a scrimmage.
Road Construction Update:
Road construction continues on Greenway and Paradise Hills. We received the following update from the Project Manager:
All of Paradise Hills will be open January 5 prior to the time school starts. The roundabouts at Paradise Hills and Heather on Greenway will be in full effect. One thing to note: the far SW crosswalk corner ramp of Paradise Hills/Greenway will not be active due to additional required underground work (extra manhole). All 3 other corners (and ramps) will be active, but pedestrian traffic will need to avoid the SW corner to cross Greenway (from south of the intersection). Sidewalk closed signs will be up, and this should only be for a short time period once we complete the manhole and pour the new sidewalk ramp.
Additional crossing guards, police, construction staff, and school staff will be available to assist with the new roundabouts. Everyone being patient, courteous, and kind as we adjust to the roundabouts is always appreciated.
New Semester/New Opportunities:
As a reminder, the new semester indicates a new start for all students. First semester academic performance – positive and negative – are a thing of the past. Please encourage your student to take advantage of this fresh start. For those who had a successful transition to in person instruction – congrats and keep it up. For those who struggled during the first semester – let us know what we can do to support you in your efforts to find success.
On behalf of the entire Mannion Community, I welcome you back to the second half of the school year!
Go Mustangs!
