Greetings,
A number of parents and students have reached out concerned over a visual change in the Parent Portal that now identifies a student as possibly being “Off Track” for graduation.
If you see the yellow hazard symbol, click on the box to see why the student is declared “off track.” There are a number of reasons for the “off track” status.
- Incomplete Course Plan – Counselors meet with students annually to update the course plan. 6th graders and any new students to CCSD will meet with their counselors in December to develop course plans. Without a current course plan, the yellow hazard symbol automatically appears. Please be aware that until the electives are added during their 8th grade academic year, the course plan will be incomplete.
- Fees or immunizations – Parents may click on those to see more details.
- Missing Credits – If a current 7th or 8th grade student has a yellow hazard symbol, it may be a result of a student not passing one of their 7th grade credits. Parents may click on their child’s transcript in Infinite Campus to view grades from the 7th grade year.
At Mannion Middle School, any students who are not on track for promotion to the next grade will be meeting with their counselors after the first quarter and at the end of the first semester. If they are not on track, parent notifications will be sent home along with steps to help the students be promoted to the next grade and/or promoted to high school.
For more information on Academic Plans and course requirements for promotion to high school, please join us at the next Parent Community Partnership Meeting on October 19, 2023, at 5:30 PM in the Mannion Library.
