Greetings,
Parents of students who plan to participate in basketball at Mannion Middle School in the 2023-2024 school year must complete the online forms required for participating in middle school athletics. Please see the information below regarding this process as well as information about tryouts and athletic eligibility for the upcoming basketball season.
Registration for Student-Athletes
Students who plan to try out for basketball or soccer in the 2023-2024 school year must be registered online by a parent through aktivate.com (this site used to be known as Register My Athlete). Please see the Aktivate Student-Athlete Registration Instructions guide for more information. Detailed instructions for using Aktivate are provided at Parent/Guardian Step-by-Step Guide to Aktivate or Guía paso a paso para padres o tutores para registrar un atleta en Aktivate.
A sports physical is required for all students before participating in tryouts. The CCSD Physical Form can be downloaded here or within Aktivate. The Bower School-Based Health Center at Basic High School offers sports physicals on Mondays that are free for CCSD students.
Basketball Intramurals and Tryouts
Basketball intramurals will be offered for boys and girls beginning the week of September 25, 2023, from 2:20 PM – 3:20 PM. Intramurals in September and October are open for all students that would like to participate. Intramurals in late October and November are only for students who have completed their Aktivate registrations. Starting October 30, 2023, students without a completed Aktivate registration will not be able to participate in intramurals or tryouts.
Basketball tryouts for boys begin on Monday, November 13, 2023. Basketball tryouts for girls begin Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Please see the 2023 Basketball Tryout & Intramural Schedule for more information.
Tryouts and intramurals will take place in the gym at Mannion Middle School. The late bus will be available only for students who receive CCSD transportation.
All student athletes are reminded that grades, citizenship, school behavior, sportsmanship, attitude, and skills are variables that will be reviewed by coaches and administration prior to the selection of the teams.
Athletic Eligibility Information
Mannion’s student-athletes must meet the residency and academic eligibility requirements set by CCSD. This information is listed on the CCSD Middle School Athletic Eligibility document.
