Mannion Parents and Students,
Mannion Middle School realizes the frustrations many parents and teachers are facing with SBACs. CCSD recently announced, “No school staff member, student, or parent should feel pressured about meeting participation requirements or accountability metrics. We encourage all schools to do the best they can for the spring administration of the SBAC.”
Ultimately, the benefit of any student taking the SBAC is not to meet state or federal requirements, but to provide our staff valuable data regarding the academic impact of the past year. The more student data we have in August, the better prepared teachers will be to fill in learning gaps. SBAC, along with the end of the year MAPs Assessment, is the best data available for this purpose.
Before you consider opting your student participating in Cohort A or B out of SBAC, pleased understand why this data is important to us as educators, and consider having your student participate. After all, he or she is already here on campus.
If your student is in Cohort C, and you are not comfortable having your student come to campus to participate in SBACs, we understand and respect your decision. If you do want your Cohort C student to participate in SBACs, we will make the necessary arrangements to have him or her participate, but participation must be done on campus.
SBACs are scheduled between April 12 and April 23.
We hope this helps provide you with a better understanding about SBACs and our philosophy at Mannion Middle School.
Please fill out the following survey below to let us know if your student will take the SBAC this year. Previous surveys about SBAC and no longer applicable since we are now in the Hybrid Instructional Model.
Each Mannion student will require a survey.
If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Hargraves at hargrmd@nv.ccsd.net or call 702-799-3020 ext. 4500.
We appreciate your support of Mannion Middle School.
Go Mustangs!
