Greetings,
I hope you are enjoying summer and this finds you healthy and happy. We are excited to see our students on the first day of school – August 9, 2021. I wanted to send an update to our 6th grade families so that you can begin planning for the 21-22 school year.
First, our 6th Grade Orientation is scheduled for August 2, 2021. It begins at 9:00 AM. Traditionally, this is when our 6th grade students meet new people, participate in small group activities, have lunch in the cafeteria (pizza), receive their schedules, locate classrooms, get their first Mannion shirt, and open their lockers (Here is a great video to alleviate locker fears – https://youtu.be/yrVjroS6UtQ). If you have not yet RSVP’d for your 6th grader to participate in the Orientation, please do so here:

Important Updates about 6th Grade Orientation:
- Due to Covid, we will not have the traditional 1:30 Parent Meeting in the Gym. 6th Grade Students will be released at 1:45 PM on August 2, 2021.
- To meet your students, parking will be available in the front parking lot, in the back parking lot, along the entire length of the school driveway, and on Paradise Hills Drive. Please communicate with your student where you plan to meet him or her after Orientation.
- Following Orientation, the campus will remain open from 1:45 PM to 4:00 PM for students and parents to explore. This is a great opportunity for your 6th grader to show you his or her schedule, classroom locations, and locker. If you plan to put anything in the locker, like a shelf, please plan to do it during this time. Also, we are extending the hours for the campus to be open as parents may decide to pick up the student, go home for a bit, and return when the campus is not as crowded.
Second, ChromeBook Deployment to 6th Grade Parents will also take place on August 2, as all CCSD students will receive a ChromeBook for both at home and in-school use. ChromeBook Deployment will take place in the library. During deployment, the 6th grade students will be participating in activities, so we ask that you do not try to locate the 6th graders and allow them to have their experience without interruption. In addition, to prevent long lines, we are limiting the number of parents on campus for each time slot. To sign up for a time to collect the ChromeBook, please click here (including evening times for those unable to take off work during the day):
To alleviate lines, we ask that you honor the times selected and that you immediately write down your date and time so you can remember. Furthermore, we ask that you come to Mannion with the “Agreement for Use of Mobile Device” completed. Make sure all signatures – for parents and students – are completed on the form (highlighted for your convenience). To print the form, please click here:

Third, for those wishing to take advantage of summer sales, the school supply list is posted on our website . Students will receive a free Mannion case to protect the ChromeBook when walking to and from class, but this case will easily fit in any backpack for transport to and from school. To access the school supply list, please look at our website – parents – school supply list – Grade 6.
Fourth, transportation information is also available for the 21-22 school year on the CCSD website. It requires your student identification number (available in campus portal) and the student’s date of birth to access. To see your student’s route information, please use this link:

Go Mustangs!
