Greetings!
If your student utilizes an e-bike or an electric scooter (or any other student mode of transportation to and from school) then please take a couple of minutes to carefully review the important information in this email.
-
All student modes of transportation to and from school (e-bikes, electric scooters, bikes, scooters, and skateboards) must be registered with the Student Success Office. Once the device is registered, students will be assigned a spot to park the device. Students are required to park in their assigned spot AND all devices must be secured with a lock.
-
CCSD and the City of Henderson collaborate to ensure that only street legal e-bikes and electric scooters are brought on campus. This poster (see page 2) outlines what is lawful and appropriate for school. Due to an increase in accidents, CCSD Police will inspect school bike racks and impound non street legal devices brought to campus. To watch a brief video about e-bike and electric scooter safety, please click here.
-
Once on campus, the maximum speed for e-bike and electric scooters is 10 MPH.
-
Students on all bikes and scooters must safely avoid pedestrians. While the school will enforce the 10 MPH rule on campus, this includes travelling safely in all school zones where there is an increase in pedestrians.
-
Students who demonstrate unsafe behaviors (excessive speed, weaving between cars, wheelies, double riding) both on campus and in the immediate area of Mannion Middle School jeopardize their ability to bring a device to campus.
If students are unable to make positive choices with an e-bike, electric scooter, bike, scooter, or skateboard, then the safest option for them is to walk to school. The school prefers to call you to tell you your student is on an e-bike or electric scooter suspension rather than calling to tell you your student was in an e-bike or electric scooter accident!
Mannion Middle School, in a commitment to student safety, will strongly enforce these guidelines and expectations in 2026.
If you would like to discuss this further, please attend our January Parent Community Partnership Meeting at 5:30 PM on January 15, 2026.
Go Mustangs!
